As the pre-season test came to a close in Barcelona, Mercedes GP had Michael Schumacher finished the 6th quickest.

Michael Schumacher spent the morning focusing on the qualifying simulation and set-up development of the Mercedes MGP W01 car. He was back in the cockpit working on the race procedures in the afternoon and had completed 123 laps.

Michael summed up about the 4 days testing in Barcelona had helped the team to make significant progress with the MGP W01 car and was feeling confident ahead of the green light of the 2010 F1 season. He reiterated that it’s hard to read into the testing time of the whole pre-season test, as it did not always reflect the true picture.

Schumacher quoted, “We have worked through many set-up and development evaluations this week and gained valuable information to study before Bahrain. We are heading the first race with a good feeling and we know that we will have our upgrades there. But most of all we know that our prospects for even the first races are looking very reasonable now.”

As for Rosberg, he was top on the timesheet at the 3rd day of the Barcelona test. He was helped by the rain though as he finished his timing and the rain was started to fall. He completed 128 laps.

Rosberg quoted, “We had a good day today and made some significant progress in terms of set-up, which was nice to see,” he explained. “We hadn’t got the most out of the car in terms of performance over the last couple of days, but we made a step in the right direction today. We went through some big changes this morning step by step and found some good improvements. The longer runs this afternoon were interesting. We learnt a lot as there were other cars running similar programmes at the same time so we were able to do some comparisons. There is still plenty of room to improve but overall we’re looking in pretty good shape.”

Conclusion of the programme was, both drivers are pretty confident with the start of the season, and they are expecting more part to be added on the car to help them improve. Obviously the car is not 100%, but as season goes by, the car will keep improving.
